Through the course of life, every woman has to face unique challenges. While their teen years are all
about physical, mental and emotional growth, their 20s is a time of big transition in terms of starting
a career and family. In their 30s and early 40s, most women are busy juggling work and home duties.
Their late 40s and 50s are a struggle with hormonal changes (menopausal symptoms), and the years
after that leave them susceptible to health issues like diabetes, heart disease, and osteoporosis.
Considering the roller-coaster ride that their life is, it is important for women to take charge of their
health and support their bodies – and minds – at every stage. Following are some of the health tips
that women can follow, regardless of age, to lead a healthy and fulfilling life:
1. Eat a nutritious meal: Nutrition is the cornerstone of a healthy and balanced living. Women
of every age must develop the habit of eating a variety of nutrient-rich foods including fruits,
vegetables, healthy fats, whole grains, lean protein and a lot of greens. It is also advisable to
eat after short intervals as it boosts metabolism and controls blood sugar levels.
2. Stay physically active: It is common for women, engrossed in family and work, to have little
or no time for themselves. But, taking out a few hours every week for a moderate-intensity
physical activity such as brisk walking is a must for women of all ages. You can also play with
your kids to make the most of your family time and at the same time, stay active.
3. Count your protein: A protein-rich diet not only boosts energy and improves mood, but also
reduces symptoms of PMS and menopause and makes pregnancy easier. It also helps ensure
that women do not feel tired or lethargic after their activity regime. The daily protein intake
recommended for women of ages 19-70 is 46g (or 15g with each main meal).
4. Go for natural supplements: If you don’t have time to prepare a nutritious meal for yourself,
a great way to incorporate all the right foods in your diet is by using natural supplements like
plant protein to your diet. Plant-based supplements are generally high in minerals, vitamins,
antioxidants and fibre and low in saturated fats which supports overall health.
5. Get a good night’s sleep: Women often have trouble sleeping due to various factors such as
stress, anxiety and constant hormonal shifts during PMS, pregnancy and menopause. Lack of
adequate sleep can often lead to serious health consequences, which is why it is crucial for
women to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep at night, regardless of age.
As easy as it is for women to ignore their health while balancing their everyday tasks, committing to
a nutritious diet and adopting these simple lifestyle changes is the best way for them to keep health
problems at bay, improve their overall quality of life, and feel their best at every age.
